All Saints Anglican Church, North Parramatta

My Ratings ( 6 out of 10 )

Photography at All Saints Church

Probably one of the most used churches in the Parramatta area is All Saints Anglican church on Victoria Rd. With its huge steeple that reaches higher than most in the area it can be seen from quite a distance. I used to live nearby and could see it from my kitchen window every morning and they have bell ringing practice sessions on Wednesdays.
I have covered alot of weddings here and every time i do there are many things that i think could be improved...
It is not the brightest of churches but with good equipment your photographer should be able to eliminate the problem of low light.

One of the biggest problems that i bring to my clients attention is the use of the staff incorrectly. One of the helpers is a sweet little old lady that is there on nearly every wedding day. She seems to be instructed by the minister/s to direct the bridal party into the main door of the church and down the aisle.  I personally don't think that grown adults need help to find the beginning of the alter and so it still amazes me to see this. The problem as the photographer is i usually like to stand about half way down the aisle to be able to capture the brides entrance with her father and also the bridesmaid as well. Every time i steer my lens toward the beginning of their walk, i see the "little old lady" in the background, peering over their shoulders as they walk. This is extremely frustrating because the results are distracted by her head looking over dads shoulder or the brides...

My advice here is simple... "tell the church that you require NO help from the little old lady, on the day.
The church does have a nice arch at the main doorway to capture dad and daughter's silhouette. Upstairs access is usually not a problem either.....

The other main problem i have faced is the tree at the front of the church at the middle of the day. It casts a large shadow over guests and bridal party when they exit. This can be difficult to deal with on a sunny day with speckled light everywhere.

Overall i have shot alot better Sydney churches than this one with regards to your wedding photography.

Wedding Photography - The Rocks Sydney

My Ratings (9 out of 10)

Wedding Photography - The Rocks Sydney

I am featuring this area of Sydney again as it is endless in terms of opportunities for your Sydney wedding photographer. The bridge stairs are located between Observatory Hill and Cumberland Street Sydney. They are two, large, undercover stairwells that are joined by a long underground tunnel. Photographs for your wedding day taken here will achieve elements of architecture combined with beautiful lighting.

It is a great place if the rain sets in on you and you need cover to work under. There are not many places in Sydney that offer this much cover from the wet weather. A wedding photographer with some experience should be able to spend around an hour here and pull some awesome images.

There is a certain time of the year in April when the sun sets and the rays will beam straight down the tunnel for about 5 minutes. It doesn't happen often but when it does, your photographer will have to be quick.

Sydney Wedding Photos - Cumberland Street Sydney

My Ratings (8 out of 10)

Wedding Photography -  Cumberland Street Sydney

Between the Cahill Express Way and Harrington street in The Rocks is Cumberland St. Great little area if your shooting Observatory Hill through to The Rocks. It is in the area of the bridge stairs that is most interesting.

Lots of little changes everywhere from steel bars to brickwork and stone. Some beautiful trees line the bridge and in late March to early May are a smashing golden red. Great against a blue sky.
In this following shot you can see the trees from the stairs.

The are a line of coloured heritage buildings if you check down the stairs opposite the Pub on the corner. All of which have quaint little doorways for your photographer to work with. If he's paying attention.

There's even a zebra crossing for some fun.
